Ready to take your math planning to the next level? Join us for a dynamic, two-part, 90-minute workshop where you'll learn how to harness the power of AI—specifically ChatGPT—to design and refine math tasks that truly challenge students' thinking.
In this hands-on session, you'll:
- Explore the Math Task Analysis Guide* to evaluate the cognitive demand of tasks
- Use AI to analyze and elevate existing or in-progress math tasks
- Learn how to prompt AI to iterate toward rigorous, student-centered learning opportunities
Whether you're enhancing lessons or creating from scratch, you'll leave with practical strategies and tools to ensure your math tasks promote deep reasoning, real-world relevance, and equitable engagement.

Our Presenters
Brenda Robles
Brenda Robles is a dedicated mathematics educator and coach who brings a strong commitment to equity, multilingual learner success, and student agency. As a mathematics fellow at the University of Pittsburgh’s Institute for Learning, she coaches teachers and instructional leaders in best practices for mathematics instruction and facilitates professional learning across multiple states.
Brenda began her career as a dual-language Spanish teacher in California, where she developed a deep passion for supporting multilingual learners through equitable and culturally responsive pedagogy. Guided by humility and curiosity, Brenda partners with educators and school systems to support shared efforts toward rigorous, student-centered math learning.
She earned her Master of Arts in Teaching from the University of California, Irvine, where she was honored with the President’s Educator Fellowship, and her Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies from California State University, San Bernardino.
Brenda continues to advocate for inclusive mathematics education that values students’ voices and lived experiences. Outside of her professional work, she enjoys spending time with her family and staying active in her local running community.
Elizabeth Brovey
Elizabeth DiPietro Brovey is an experienced mathematics educator and coach with over 30 years dedicated to creating equitable, engaging learning environments. A National Board Certified Teacher in Early Adolescent Mathematics,
she has served in roles ranging from classroom teacher and district math coach to Director of Equitable Learning Environments in Pittsburgh Public Schools. In these positions, Elizabeth led professional development, coached educators to deepen student-centered instruction, and supported schools in implementing culturally responsive practices.
She also spent several years as an Instruction and Learning Coach at Propel Andrew Street High School, where she collaborated with teachers and leaders to build professional learning communities focused on inquiry, empowerment, and equity. Throughout her career, Elizabeth has partnered with the University of Pittsburgh’s Institute for Learning as a professional development facilitator, curriculum writer, and assessment developer. Her classroom practice and coaching expertise have been nationally recognized and featured in the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics Principles to Action Professional Learning Toolkit.
After retiring from Pittsburgh Public Schools in 2023, Elizabeth returned to the Institute for Learning as a math fellow. She remains committed to supporting educators in bringing rigorous, meaningful mathematics to all students and believes that lasting change happens through collaborative, reflective professional learning.
